Fashion Q&A: Wristband is sunscreen reminder

I came in on the tail-end of an item on TV. It was something about a wristband that indicates when you need to reapply sunscreen. Have you heard of anything like that?

A: I sounds like the UVSunSafe wristband — which sounds like a good idea, because sunscreen is most effective when reapplied regularly.

You simply wrap the sun-sensitive band around your wrist, then apply sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher to your exposed skin and on the band. When the bright blue-purple color fades, it is time to reapply sunscreen. And when the color changes to yellow-orange, it’s time to cover up or get out of the sun to avoid burning.

The disposable bands can be used in salt, fresh and chlorinated water.
